For a year, my clinic went quiet
I run Greenland Medical, a private functional medicine practice in Twickenham. Over about twelve months, enquiries fell away. I put it down to the cost-of-living crisis, and some of it probably was. Private healthcare is one of the first things people cut.
All that time I was paying for SEO. The monthly reports looked good, and traffic really was growing, from about 160 visits a month from Google to over 2,000.
I’d grown frustrated enough with generalist agencies to learn this work properly and start The AI Growth Clinic, to do it for other practices. Then I turned the same audit on my own website. It was an uncomfortable diagnosis. 88% of those visits were to articles about chicken, turkey and protein. My flagship service drew 58 visits in sixteen months. Google had declined to include 31 of my medical pages in its results. The pages where patients decide to book had no booking button, the email link was misspelled, and there was no enquiry form or working analytics, so nobody could see any of it.
So I rebuilt the site from scratch, around the questions patients actually ask and the way AI assistants like ChatGPT now decide which clinics to recommend. In the first month after relaunch, enquiries went from around 8 a month to 29. Read the full case study.
My own clinic was the first proof that the method works. I’ve been the frustrated clinic owner paying for marketing that looked busy and wasn’t. I’m also a doctor, so I know what a medical website has to say, what UK rules won’t let it say, and what patients and AI systems need before they’ll find you.
That’s the name. Clinics come to me to grow, the way patients come to a clinic to get better: an honest diagnosis first, then a treatment plan.
